I was referred to Richards Law by a friend of mine who is also an attorney, because he highly recommends J.R., who is an expert in landlord-tenant issues (and other things, I'm sure). I must say that I have been very impressed by J.R. He has been responsive, knowledgeable, and strategic--helping me to approach the matter I am facing in a pragmatic, effective way. John (J.R.) Richards worked with my parents on a property damage dispute they were having with their neighbors. My parents are senior citizens and this was their first experience with a lawyer. I sat in on their initial consultation with J.R. and I was highly impressed with how he treated my parents. He was extremely patient and respectful. I did not sense this was an act either, he just struck me as a genuine person who was looking to resolve a dispute in way that would be efficient and civil. My parents were justifiably riled up by their neighbors actions and it would have been easy for J.R. to fan the flames, but he didn't do that. What J.R. did instead was ask a series of calm, clear questions, listen carefully to the responses and then quickly deduce the options my parents had. He explained things in a way my parents could easily understand. This is what impressed me most: J.R. is obviously a very intelligent person but he chose not to "show off" and instead was more focused on finding a solution that would be best for my parents. I also sensed that John would be an extremely tough advocate for my parents (if needed) however this was not required in my parents case. J.R. was able to get the results my parents wanted in way that minimized stress and expedited a solution.

I retained J.R. to represent my business partner in a property ownership dispute. As a former police officer, property manager and business owner I have had a lot of experience with attorneys. J.R. is by far one of the best I've ever met. He worked efficiently, billed very fairly and was very patient in answering our questions. I had interviewed a couple of other attorneys but J.R. stood out. He took the time to get to personally know us and our concerns (he didn't bill us for the consultation and chit chat time). My husband had a legal issue with a vehicle he purchased about 8-9 years ago.  The vehicle was returned to the dealership but legally he was responsible for the loan and has always confessed to this. My husband tried to settle but to no avail. Apparently the loan company had not served my husband properly i.e. mailing notifications to an invalid address - unbeknownst to us.  That is where J.R. came in and saved the day!  J.R. met with my husband the same day he was contacted.  He then followed up with a phone call to me in order to keep me informed.  In a matter of 3 days, J.R. had submitted documentation to the lender, a settlement was rendered, and the loan was paid.  It took J.R. 3 days to do what WE couldn't do in many years.  Not only is he a professional in every sense, his service is exceptional.  My husband and I will be forever grateful for J.R. - A big weight has been lifted from us financially.  I would highly recommend J.R. for your legal needs!

My experience with this attorney was uniformly positive.  J.R. seems to have a thorough understanding of the law, but also real-world concerns - like the high cost of participating in the legal system - and he puts 100% of his effort into a case.  We were in a lawsuit against a guy who was one of those people that abuse the system to get what they want, but J.R. knew all his tricks and just kept after him until he had no more tricks left to pull.  I think everybody wants that kind of tenacity in their corner.

JR helped me resolve a frivolous lawsuit by a person who had no representative. Being from the east coast, I had no knowledge of the laws around a demur. With his expert knowledge and background in financial affairs and real estate, he managed to get us a settlement vs. an expensive demur and possible court appearance.

What a weight off my mind! JR is committed, knowledgeable, and looks out for your best interest and not his pockets.

I couldn't be happy with JR! As a former police officer and as a property manager and businessman, I have worked with dozens of attorneys on both criminal and civil cases. JR is truly top drawer- was obviously well-versed in his area of law, outlined our options and strategies, very personable and understandable, kept me informed, responded quickly and was very fair in billing. JR truly puts his client's interests before his own - as all attorneys are supposed to do, but few actually do. You can't go wrong with JR.

JR represented us in a tricky dispute with a tenant and was exceedingly thorough in preparing a case for eviction for non-payment of rent. He was able to negotiate a settlement without needing to go before the judge saving us time and money.

I had to go out of country before I could conclude a loan agreement (I'm the lender), so JR took over and began to gather documents he believes were necessary to evaluate the borrower and collaterals. He was knowledgeable and kept me informed with progresses by email.
