TYPES OF PRACTICE

Transactional law is the body of law that governs transactions between two or more parties. We advise and assist real estate owners with various types of transactions, including negotiating, reviewing, and preparing contracts, purchase/sales agreements, and leases. Mediation is a negotiation between two or more parties conducted by an impartial person, typically a judge or attorney. Parties participate in mediation to try to resolve disputes between them and often to avoid costly litigation. We help clients prepare and represent their interests at mediation. Arbitration is a proceeding heard by an impartial person, typically a retired judge or attorney, to resolve a dispute between two or more parties outside the court system. The impartial person conducts the arbitration proceeding and then renders a decision. Arbitration is an alternative to the court system. We aggressively represent clients throughout the arbitration process. Litigation is the process of taking a dispute through the court system. The litigation process can be lengthy and complex. We counsel our clients throughout the process and ensure that they are well informed so that they can make well reasoned decisions. An appeal is a legal process to challenge a court's decision. We have successfully appealed and defended appeals of court decision. An administrative hearing is a hearing that takes place outside the court before a government agency, such as the rent board. We regularly represent clients before various government agencies.
